Early Friday morning Wes was off to the Dallas area, where he dropped his grandmother off at DFW; hung out for day around the metroplex; and enjoyed the auto show in Ft. Worth with Dean once Dean was off work. Sebastian and I managed to get Katherine off to school, and later we went back and enjoyed lunch with her. After we picked her up from school that afternoon, I took them to the video store to rent a couple movies. We had been home about thirty minutes and one of Katherine's friends from school asked if she could come over and play. Katherine loved that, and so they played together for a couple hours. We finally settled into bed to watch Peter Pan about 9pm. Sebastian didn't last long and he was sound asleep. I drifted in and out of sleep throughout the movie, but Katherine managed to stay away for all of it! It was at the end of the movie that I noticed Katherine was burning up. Poor girl had a temperature of 101.9!
It was a beautiful day here and we've all been inside. Each one of us has some type of stomach virus. Katherine has been the only one with a temperature so far, and for that we are greatful! Looks like Wes, who isn't feeling well either, will be the only one making church tomorrow.

Home Day
It's cold, rainy and icy at our house today.
This morning around 7AM Katherine and I were listening to the radio to find out whether she would be having school today. She just about jumped through the roof and screamed rather loudly when she heard her principle on the radio announcing there would be no school. I was thrilled as well, but Sebastian wasn't very happy. He's since changed his mind, and they've been playing very well together.
By 10 AM Katherine had requested that I start my cleaning of the living room (a project I had already announced I was going to do today) instead of playing on the computer, so she could use my computer! It wasn't long before Sebastian was hurrying me up in the living room, so he could play with the Wii.
This afternoon we have devoted to playing together.
Enough talk...Let's fight!

January Verse
There are so many thoughts twirling around in my head about what I want to write. I am having trouble finding a good place to start; and truthfully, I don't have much time this morning as I have an appointment to get too! I do; however, what to share that I have set a goal to memorize scripture. I was challenged by reading on another blog about memorizing 24 scriptures this year (two a month). I'll explain more later about why I decided this was something I wanted and needed to do. The first verse I chose to memorize is Isaiah 55:8-9.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9.

Control issues?
When I was a psychology major in college I took several personality tests. I usually fell somewhere between a Type A & B personality on those tests. I exhibit characteristics of both. Being a wife and mother seems to have brought out more of the type A traits. For instance, it drives me nuts when my family members (mainly my husband) don't load the dishwasher in same way I do. I mean, there is only one way certain cups will fit and you should maximize how much you can fit in there.
Okay, on with my point. This afternoon Katherine and I were making cupcakes to take to church. When it came time to put the icing on the cupcakes Katherine wanted to do it herself. "Hmmm, I don't know!" was going through my mind, but I said "Sure, I'll show you how I do it." After icing the first one I turned it over to Katherine; however, I looked on with great anticipation. She, of course, wasn't doing it correctly (or to my perfection), so I gave more instruction. By the third cupcake I decided to wash the dishes sitting on the counter while Katherine finished icing the cupcakes. She then added sprinkles on top.
I did touch up a couple of the cupcakes before she added the sprinkles. They needed more icing and I couldn't help myself! Working on the control issues...

It is Official
Thirteen years ago I married a man who I love dearly. Today I love him even more. I am so thankful God brought us together and kept bringing us back to one another when we tried to stay apart.
There are always ups and downs in a marriage and ours has been no different. We've laughed hilariously and cried deeply with each other. We've grown in the last thirteen years, and I look forward to continually growing together in the years to come.
These were sent to me this morning from my wonderful husband! And he is such the romantic...there are thirteen roses!
