Wes, Sebastian, and I are very proud of Katherine, who on Saturday, January 30th, attended the Oklahoma Baptist Area Keyboard Festival held at Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel.
She was required to play one classical piece and one hymn or contemporary christian piece. She played Trumpet Concerto in E-flat by Franz Joseph Haydn arranged by Carol Matz and Seek Ye First by Karen Lafferty arranged by Carol Tornquist. She was required to memorize one and she memorized the classical piece.
This was the first time she's participated in a piano contest or festival, and she did great! We are very proud of her!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS KATHERINE!!!!!!!!!!

New Addition
On Friday evening we welcomed our new golden retriever, George W, into our home. George is eight weeks old and such a cutie! Currently, he's got us all wrapped around his little paw. He's adored and loved by all. He's just too cute!
The kids are absolutely thrilled to have a puppy. They have been great at helping take care of him already, and they love to play with him. We've already shared some funny moments playing with George, and I know there's many more to come.
All I can say is..."They are too cute?"
Enjoy the video taken shortly after George made his arrival on Friday evening.

The Chef
My wonderful daughter, Katherine, has taken to cooking. She's been helping me prepare some meals recently and she really enjoys it. The menu on Monday night called for Swedish meatballs. I wasn't feeling well that day and Wes offered to go pick up a pizza for dinner so I wouldn't have to cook. (What a sweet & thoughtful husband I have.)
Anyways, I had already thawed the beef and knew Katherine was really excited about the meatballs. She had ask me earlier if she could help make dinner, so I decided to let her actually make dinner for us that night. Now, there were a couple things I didn't let her do like cut & mince the garlic & onion or put the meatballs in the oven; however, she did do most everything else. She did an excellent job and it tasted great. (Well, I actually didn't eat any, but Wes said they were great!)
So tonight we were having meatloaf and Katherine was right in the kitchen making most of it. I think the only thing I did was the chopping and putting the pan in the oven. She said "Mom, can I pretend I'm the chef and you're helping me?"
She not pretending. She's doing great, and I'm so proud of her!

Precious Sounds
The kids are playing and laughing in the living room, and it's such a beautiful sound to my ears. They have played great together today. I am reminded once again how precious children are, and I am so grateful God blessed me with two healthy and amazing kids.

Words to Treasure
Last Easter Katherine received the NIrV Adventure Bible Book of Devotions for Early Readers. She has enjoyed reading the stories on her own, but this year I decided to make it apart of our morning routine.
The scripture reference was out of Ephesians today and since we're learning the books of the Bible I ask whether Ephesians was in the Old or New Testament. They both got thoughtful looks on their faces and then I noticed Katherine quietly singing the songs we're using to help us memorize the books of the Bible. Sebastian finally says "New" with a big grin on his face. I knew he was guessing, but since he was right I just praised him for the correct answer.
After our devotion I opened my Bible to Ephesians 6:1 and began reading. I stopped at verse 4. It struck me and I couldn't get past it.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
God is impressing that verse on my heart today. Do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Still, My Soul Be Still
In June, 2008, I first heard of Keith & Kristyn Getty and ever since I've been a fan of their music. The lyrics are theologically sound and not driven to emotional repetitiveness. I love that the Getty's strive to write theologically sound lyrics instead of just writing about Christian ideals or a good sounding story to music. I love that my daughter enjoys listening to and singing the Getty's music.
This morning I want to share the lyrics to Still, My Soul Be Still, because God has been using it in my life.
Still my soul be still
And do not fear
Though winds of change may rage tomorrow
God is at your side
No longer dread
The fires of unexpected sorrow
God You are my God
And I will trust in You and not be shaken
Lord of peace renew
A steadfast spirit with me
To rest in You alone
Still my soul be still
Do not be moved
By lesser lights and fleeting shadows
Hold onto His ways
With shield of faith
Against temptations flaming arrows
Still my soul be still
Do not forsake
The Truth you learned in the beginning
Wait upon the Lord
And hope will rise As stars appear when day is dimming

Scripture Verse for today...
Keep your life free from love of money,
and be content with what you have,
for he has said,
"I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Pirate Day
Diana Miller took her nephew, Ryan, and Sebastian on a pirate day adventure. The boys had pirate gear and a treasure map.
The boys enjoyed going to the Red River Museum, Beaver's Bend Park, McDonald's, and finding treasure at Ryan's great-grandparents. It was such a fun day for the boys! Diana rocks!

Katherine's Shopping Trip
Katherine was invited on a special trip with a wonderful young lady from church, Diana Miller, and Diana's niece RaeliJo, who happens to be one of Katherine's best friends. Diana took Katherine and RaeliJo for an overnight shopping trip to Dallas. They had a great time. Here are a couple pictures from her trip that took place back in November.
Scripture Verse for today...
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I a fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Psalm 139:13-15
Have a blessed Sunday!

Blogging Stats
The Kenney News began May 2006 and there were 63 blog posting over 8 months.
In 2007 there were 64 postings. (Had 4 extra months & still only managed one more than the previous year. Wow!)
Then there's 2008 with 50 postings; however, there were other circumstances that contributed to the lack of blog postings during this year.
And last, but not least there is 2009 with 58 postings. Man, I was on a roll and the year ended! I only needed 6 more and I would have tied with 2007's blog postings. Guess there's always next year, right?
This year I aspire to bring you more into our lives through this blog. I want it to become a way for you to see who we are as a family. I pray God will be glorified through the words that I write and video's I post. There will days when you'll see how human & sinful we are, but I pray you will also see how we trust God to forgive & take care of us.
And don't worry, because there will be plenty of days when you'll see how absolutely crazy and funny we are!

New Toy
Yes, I learned how to post family video's onto the blog. Actually, I've sort-of known all along, but now I can take video & upload it from my phone. Get use to seeing short everyday video of our lives, because I think I could be addicted.
I need to figure out the best way to utilize posting video on here, facebook, and twitter, so please excuse the double posting for a while. I'll be working on the best way to do this.
I do hope you enjoy seeing a little more into our daily lives.

Made it to Fourteen!
Today Wes and I celebrate 14 years of marriage. We were blessed to have our precious children make us breakfast and serve it to us in bed this morning. I heard them in the kitchen while I was still laying in bed, and when I came around the corner to see what they were up to I was told to go back to bed! I went back to my room and made sure Wes would be awake when the kids arrived with our waffle & toast breakfast. They also made us a card and sang us a song Katherine had written. It was absolutely precious and such a great way to start off our anniversary day!
Here is the song Katherine wrote as she wrote it. I tried to scan the paper she wrote it on, but my scanner isn't working right.
We wish you a merry Aniversry. We hope you have a good one. We love you and we always will and we hope the next ones better.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved Children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Thought for today...
Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
Psalm 25:4-5

for you are the God of my salvation;
