The Christmas Program

On Sunday, December 13th at Trinity Baptist Church, Valliant some adults helped the children tell and reenact the Christmas story.

Katherine was an angel & Sebastian was one of the two wise men.

They sang Away in the Manger and the chorus of Go Tell It on the Mountain. I was so proud of all the kids. They did great!

Christmas Day

Our Christmas began at 7 AM when Katherine & Sebastian came into our room. I was shocked to find out they had come to our room around through our bathroom instead of coming from the living where they could have seen what Santa had left. They were ready for us to get up, so we as a family opened the door from our bedroom to the living room where screams of excitement then took place.

Grandpa's excitement is overflowing!


Katherine couldn't wait to have Aunt Diane play with her and the new Barbie Glamour Camper. On more than one occasion Katherine has let me know that Aunt Diane plays with the barbies better than I, which is very true; however, I did play with Katherine and the barbie camper later that evening.



We enjoyed a terrific meal and spent the day hanging out as a family. A wonderful way to celebrate our Savior's birthday!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve we got up early and headed north to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where we spent the day at the Banks'. We enjoyed a wonderful meal then opened presents. I think we sat down to eat about 10:45 AM and had all the presents opened by noon!

We hung out for a little while and the kids tickled & played with Uncle Billy.


Sometime a little after 2 PM Wes checked the weather radar and the snow storm hitting our state was headed our way, so we loaded all of our stuff and climbed into the truck for our drive home. We did not encounter any bad weather during the drive and were thankful to only have to stop once for fuel & bathroom break.

My dad and sister arrived later that night. We enjoyed chips & cheese dip while hanging out until bedtime when Grandpa Homer read The Night Before Christmas to the kids.

And yes, Santa visited our home much later that night!

We celebrated Sebastian's fifth birthday once again at Chuck E Cheese's. Totally Awesome according to Sebastian! We love him so much!

My Favorite Holidays

He's Here!

When I was a young child I remember my dad reading me stories from The Children's Bible before bedtime. Sometime between Katherine's first and second birthday I began reading to her from The Rhyme Bible Storybook for Toddlers by L.J. Sattgast. We read it so much that she could recite each story and turn the pages at the right place almost like she were reading the stories for herself. She and I loved it, but she eventually out grew that book.

For Easter 2007 Katherine and Sebastian received The Jesus Storybook Bible, written by Sally-Lloyd Jones and illustrated by Jago, from their Grandma, Linda Kenney. Since that day our family has loved reading from that book. (Wes tells about the book here & here.)

Kids Christmas Decor

On Saturday, November 28th, we decorated our house for Christmas. This year the kids added some Christmas decor to their rooms.

This year we bought a real tree for the living room, and it's decorated with red lights, kids ornaments, and red & gold beads. We haven't gotten the outside lights put in the bushes yet, but I'm hoping we can get that done this weekend.

Wes, Katherine, Sebastian, and I spent Thursday and Friday at the Banks house in Muskogee. Katherine & Sebastian had a blast with grandma, grandpa, and their Uncle Billy. We had a great time!
